The National Gallery
The National Gallery is London's leading art gallery
and the repository of much of Britain's extensive
national collection. With in excess of 2,000 paintings,
the National Gallery covers eight centuries of European
artistic endeavour, with particular emphasis on the
Renaissance.
The rich and varied collection includes works by Rembrandt,
Velasquez, Leonardo da Vinci, Holbein, Canaletto,
Botticelli, Brueghel, and favourite British painters
Constable, Gainsborough, and Turner. Impressionist
and modern painters represented include Renoir, Monet,
Van Gogh, and Picasso. Regular exhibitions are also
held at the Gallery.
Highlights of a trip to the National Gallery
include:
- The Impressionist works of Seurat, Renoir, and
Van Gogh.
- The Dutch Collection, featuring numerous Rembrandts
and the work of Rubens and Vermeer.

Getting There
Trafalgar Square WC2. Located on the northern side
of the Square.
Charing Cross, Leicester Square, and Piccadilly Square
tubes.
Opening Times and Admission Prices
The National Gallery is open 10am to 6pm Daily, 10am
to 9pm Weds.
There is no Admission Charge to the collection, except
for some major exhibitions.
