Airports
Heathrow International Airport
Over sixty two million people began or ended their
UK experience at Heathrow Airport last year - chances
are, you'll be one of them. Heathrow (LHR) is the
world's busiest international airport, and it
pays to have thought about what terminal you will
be arriving at, the Customs
and Immigration Procedures required, and then
Getting
Into London.
With four terminals, 90 airlines operating, and 200
destinations offered, Heathrow's hustle and bustle
can be intimidating to the first-time arrivee. A Tube
link exists between Terminal 4 (which is some
distance from the others) and the Terminals 1, 2,
and 3.
Most long haul flights arrive at Terminal 3,
although British Airways and Qantas flights will possibly
alight at Terminal 4. It takes approximately one hour
to get into central London from Heathrow.

Gatwick Airport
Gatwick Airport is another huge airport on the southern
outskirts of London. Servicing a large volume of international
traffic (and ranked as the sixth busiest international
airport in the world), Gatwick has all the facilities
you'd expect of a major airport, including 24 hour
restaurants, exchange bureaus, and shops.
Unlike Heathrow, a number of holiday package operators
and budget airlines fly to and from Gatwick. This
can cause congestion at immigration desks, so allow
plenty of time for these delays on arrival.

Other Airports
London's three smaller airports typically
handle a mixture of charter flights, domestic or short-haul
international traffic, and budget airlines such as
EasyJet.
Stansted
Airport to the north-east of the city has
regular bus and train services, with a journey time
of 45 minutes on to Liverpool Street Station. Check
out Standsted
Express.
Luton
Airport operates a bus service from the airport
to the nearby Luton railway station. From there it
is a 30 minute British Rail journey to the very handy
Kings Cross Station. Greenline Bus Services offers
a 75 minute bus service to Victoria depot.
London
City Airport in Docklands is principally for
short-haul European destinations. Business travellers
are well catered for with the range of facilities
and the airport is only a few minutes from the City.
