Hogmanay
Edinburgh's New Year's Eve celebrations -
known as Hogmanay - are a strong contender
for European Party of the Year. With torchlit
processions, rock concerts, and an amazing pyrotechnic
display above the Castle, this is an unforgettable
way to bring in the New Year.
The population of Edinburgh (a shade under half a
million) almost doubles for Hogmanay, as visitors
from around the world gather to enjoy the festivities
and the warm hospitality of the Scots. Be prepared
to organise your trip to Edinburgh well in advance
though - transport and accommodation book up months
in advance, and the streets of the Scottish capital
in winter are not a good place to sleep rough.
A popular option for those wanting to experience Hogmanay
for themselves but without the hassle is an organised
tour.
